The timestamps between me and my host get a second or two (or less) out of whack. When I synchronize the site (or directory) I either have to:
1) say "No to all" when it advises me that the remote file is newer than my local file (and I have to do this for ever more); or
2) say "Yes to all" (and upload everything); or
3) "Get" everything.
I would love to be able to do one or all of the following, in order of preference:
a) synchronize the timestamps (not the files); or
b) tell Dreamweaver (or some other software) that a couple of seconds either way is okay with me thanks; or
c) reset the timestamps on both machines (without doing any file loading).
And another thing :) ..... as DW puts the files..... it resets all the timestamps on the files on my local device (but not the directories) to the local time or upload. Hence, if I have any "last updated's" - and I have a couple because some clients insist - these get updated.
I have XP (amateur) on my remote machine, the hosting machine is Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux). The device I keep my website files on is a Cyclone USB flash drive.
I think the source of the problem may lie in the flash drive file timestamping system.... but it would still be nice to find something to resync timestamps :)
I keep sites on the flash drive because I take the files with me and occasionally update stuff and upload on the fly using WSFTP (when an urgent bug needs to be fixed).
One way of getting around the problem would be to change the system clock, say to 1 hour ahead, should last you 15 years, before the problem arises again.
