dream weaver viewing layout, colors and font size

I am not clear where I screwed up in viewing...but the back ground ( in design) stays white....when I change the color...when I ftp the page, it has the correct background color and font size, but it wont show the correct color and font size in view.....what do I have to do to start viewing this

only one thing comes to my mind

you have set your css paths reltive to site root folder "/some-folder/mycss.css", while you forgot to create a site with dreamweaver (so as to know whats your root path).

This will cause the conflict you describe, espcially when you place your project/site inside other folder(s).

Go to Site ->New Site and set up your working site properties. Hopefully this will clear things up for you.
