Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how to incorporate repeating regions into nested templates in dreamweaver cs3.

The problem is:

1) mke a template and place a repeating region in it.

2) make a new child template from the original template. ( The repeating region controls appear in this template)

3) make a page from the child template - the repeating region controls are not available.

It is as though the repeating region is only able to propogate one level in a nested template heirarchy.

Does anyone know if there is a way around this?

Any advice much appreciated.

why do you need 2+ levels. Not clear to me what you are actually trying to do.

so is the first region editable or fixed, i.e site wide navigation, and the second level - sub site navigation ?

We have a tree structure of nested templates. The base level contains standard header / footer / global navigation etc.

The next level contains certain navigation and content elements specific to particular areas of the site.

At the lowest level we make content pages from these templates.

The problem is that if you include a repeating region in the base level template then, by the time you get to edit an actual page made from the a template there repeating region controls are not available. They are only available in the parent template.

For template variables for example, you can specify a 'passthrough' to allow nested templates to control the variable. I guess what I'm hoping for is a similar type of functionality for repeating regions or at least some kind of workaround.

I realise I can of course just add the same repeating region to the lower level templates but to me this slightly defeats the object of the templates.

Any suggestions much appreciated.
