will it compromise existing webs?

Hi everyone,

I've been using FP 2000 for some time now, and have quite a few webs that I've made with it. I will be getting the Office 2002 package soon, and was wondering if I install 2002 on my system overtop of 2000, will I still be able to access and edit my existing webs and documents without anything being even remotely compromised?

I would guess it should be fine, but I just wanted to make sure as I don't need any surprises ;-)

thanks so much!

kelly :-)

I had no problems making the transition with a site of several thousand pages. I just installed the new version of FP, and nothing changed except the software.

The only problem that I'm aware of is that some Web hosting services may still use the FP2000 server extensions, so you've got to be sure that your host has the FP2002 extensions if you plan to use any "FrontPage components" that were introduced in FP2002.

Why not wait for 2003 to come out within a few months?

thanks europeforvisitors, glad to hear that it should be a pretty seamless transition. woop01 - is it really only a few months before 2003 or is that just an ETA?

From the Microsoft FAQ...

Microsoft expects to make FrontPage 2003 available in the second half of 2003.

My .02
I've been updating one site from two separate PCs. One had 2000 installed and the other 2002. Had no problems.
