If I want to change one of my stylesheets I have to FTP to download it rather than just opening it up and saving. How can I get line breaks in DW for the CSS or manually change it so I can have those files open in Notepad?
On my Registered File Types list it's named "Cascading Style Sheet Documents". "CSSfiles" only shows on the Alert message.
I just recently edited that association so that CSS files open in Homesite. I had installed FrontPage for a project, and it grabbed the extension. Bad software -- behave!
There didn't seem to be anything even related to CSS in the filetypes, but CSSFiles kept popping up whenever I tried to add css. So I added an entry for it. I actually want mine to open up in the browser from my sites so I can take a look if something needs changing.
It's still *downloading* and opening in Dreamweaver, totally useless to me. Right clicking to "open with" just does not exist.
Hold down the shift while right clicking in MyComputer or WindowsExplorer. Will try. It's mainly from the web, so I can open the CSS file and make changes, then upload the revision without having to download by FTP.
Or if you notice the threads in the HTML forum discussing tables vs. CSS, I can't look at those stylesheets they're using, DW grabs them and mangles them all up.
Not sure if I'm understanding your set-up correctly but hopefully this'll help:
1) In Windows Explorer (your're on Win98, right?), go to the 'View' menu and click 'Folder Options'. Select the 'File Types' tab and scroll down 'till you see 'Cascading Style Sheet Document'. Click 'Edit' and you'll see a window showing the programs currently associated with CSS files, select Dreamweaver and then click the 'Remove' button.
2) To show the 'Open With' option in your right-click menu, use Windows Explorer.
Hope that works for ya.
give that a whirl and see if it works
