Dreamweaver problem with white text in wysiwyg

I've got areas on a page which use a style of white text on a dark background, and DW insists on putting a white text box in the wysiwyg, even though I've specified both foreground and background colors in the CSS.

Has anyone else come across this and if so can offer any solutions?

It doesn't bother me of course as I can just edit stuff in code view, but the site is also edited by non-coders who will use the wysiwyg only and I fear this will cause them problems, as they can't see the text they're editing!

For info I'm using DW MX 2004.
