I have a little problem that I can't get the grips on. I use FrontPage since long time now, and I'm very happy with it, mostly because now I'm comfortable with it. (version 2003 now).
The problem is simple, the _vti_cnf folders. I don't mind having them in the website and in all needed folders, I actually need them because I have some forms and FP dynamic pages. The problems rise when FrontPage also create this folders inside my OsCommerce installation, or inside my Forum. These are scripts installed via the Cpanel (fantastico) inside the “catalog” and “forum” folders (that are inside the main domain name) www.mydomain.com/catalog, www.mydomain.com/forum .
Is there a way to tell FrontPage not to update these folders using its FPSE? I tried to create a sub-web in each such folders, and tell it not to publish it, but without any results, the _vti_cnf folders come back all the time.
The problem comes when I have to publish some changes in the OsCommerce part using FTP and the program also needs to read all these files, also when making a backup and so on. OsCommerce has lots of folders and files, and having a duplicate of everything is very annoying.
I thank you in advance any advice or tip that you people could give me.
Cheers,
Hermond.
PS: I'm not new in these forum, I'm an avid reader since long time. Pitty I didn't post yet.
Unfortunately, I have found a way to tell FP not to update or upload certain directories.
You can right click on FILES and select the Don't Publish option, but that does not seem to be available for directories.
