I've no problem doing that but I'm a wee bit nervious about my phpbb forum files. I have them backed up on my hard drive and I'd reckon it would just be a matter of FTPing them back to the 'form' folder after the site has been restored. The database is on a different server so that should reconnect automatically. Is my thinking on this sound? Into my ninth year of retirement and enjoying the challenge, but worried about letting my forum members down.
The phpBB forum however uses a MySQL database so you'll need to go to their support site and make sure that you have backed up the database properly. Simply copying the existing files from your phpBB won't be a sufficient backup. You'll probably need to re-install the forum and then import your data in. Take all the steps you would as if you were moving to a new host.
If the worst comes to the worst I can install new phpbb files and get things back to what they were. But it sure would be nice just FTPing the backup phpbb files back to the 'forum' folder after I reload the website.
If you've got a huge database (thousands of forum posts) then you'll probably have to shell in and create a database dump on the server and then download that file.
