Renaming folder while keeping all its references intact

Hello everyone,

What is the easiest way update all LINK and IMG tags when I rename a folder name from pictures/01 to pictures/vacation without creating any broken links or pictures? Is there any tool (preferably free) which automates this process? Thanks for your help.

Do it in frontpage - it automatically changes everything.
(I imagine other packeages have the ability as well)
