Hi,
I have installed FP2000 on a laptop running Windows XP Pro. The software has installed but I can't seem to restore or transfer the data from a backup on a Bytestor SB 2.0 Flash Drive or even an Iomega Zip.The stored backup data is from an old desktop running W98. It doesn't seem to recognise it.
Could someone talk me through it please? I would be very grateful.

You should be able to open up Frontpage and also open up the flash drive. Now copy the files from the flash drive & then in FP, paste them there. That should work

Try copying the files to your local HDD and then either Import them with FP, or open them with FP and then Publish them to a new location.

Thanks guys but it seems that Microsoft in their wisdom have made qic backup files on older MS operating systems incompatible with XP. Be warned.
On their "help" (hah!) pages it says:
"When you attempt to restore a backup in Windows XP that you create by using the Msbackup tool in Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Millennium Edition (Me), you may receive one of the following error messages:
Unrecognized Media
The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used. "

Their "Resolution" is:

"RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, restore the data from the tape or file by using Msbackup on a computer that is running Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me.
STATUS
This behavior is by design."

By design! What garbage. My new computer has XP Pro and they have not made backups on their operating systems compatible "by design".Thanks a bunch.

I have now used BackupGenie which has transferred the files more or less intact but with a bit of cleaning up to do.
