why does rich text editor mess up site interactivity w. FF?

Does anyone know why the Firefox 1.0 browser conflicts so seriously with several several sites using WYSIWYG editors: typepad (blog service).

I don't understand where the conflict lies & whether there's anything you can do to resolve it.

I'm on a pc, windows xp.
