OpenAI has introduced a research preview of "Operator", which is an AI browser agent to automate web tasks. It's available to Pro users in the U.S. at the moment, and it says it has plans to extend this to Plus, Team, and Enterprise users. It'll be integrated into ChatGPT in the future.

OpenAI’s launch of “Operator” is set to disrupt how users book travel, restaurants, and similar services. By directly performing tasks via APIs, it bypasses traditional websites and search engines, prioritizing price and convenience. This could significantly reduce website traffic, commoditize services, and make SEO less effective. For businesses, the focus will shift to optimizing API integrations, ensuring real-time data, and differentiating through values or unique offerings to influence AI-driven decisions.

Marketing budgets may also shift away from Google Ads toward partnerships with AI platforms or affiliate-style performance models. Personalization and metadata optimization will remain critical, but loyalty programs and influencer marketing could become key to maintaining human connections.

How might smaller platforms reliant on organic traffic adapt to this new AI-driven environment?

What strategies would you focus on to ensure visibility in an AI-dominated booking process?

@Whitey

This can only lead to two paths for a site, one for API and another for UI for general audience.

But I don't think it will be a big hit. Because majority of the people do like the idea of AI doing their work. But they also don't like the idea (or not comfortable) giving their CC info to someone or something.
