Without dropping any specific company or app names to avoid promotion, what great and interesting uses have you seen for AI in recent times?
It seems to me that many apps are appearing at an all-time rapid rate, and it's almost impossible to keep up.

Clearly, search is an area that interests us, and there are a number of teething problems we've seen as we use them. Part of the trouble is the input data, and then the quality of the processing output, and lack of fact checking capability. We've heard that Apple has finally and temporarily pulled its AI news feed after criticism. [bbc.co.uk...]

Looking at the positives, what apps have you seen, and how can it benefit the user?

One of the best applications i've seen is in a hospital that is screening for cancers. The AI can process far faster and thereby more images than a human. The AI processes the imaging and feeds back any images that require further investigation by an experienced human.

What have you seen?

Apple has pledged improvements to its news summarising tool, but critics say it is dangerous and needs to be withdrawn.

I was going to suggest that Generative AI might be used as a DIY alternative to book summarising services.

It can't. (Not at this point, anyway).

I asked a leading generative AI to summarise the plot of a book which was recently adapted for television.

The summary generated by the AI included several relationships between characters which differed markedly from those established in the TV series.

I questioned if those relationships were correct and the AI doubled-down and insisted that they were. I remained sceptical.

After double-checking (elsewhere on the web) I offered correct information and the AI apologised and confirmed the new information was correct and not what it had told me before.

I then re-corrected my correction with false information and the AI apologised again and confirmed my (false) re-correction was correct and confirmed that neither my (correct) previous correction nor what it had originally told me were right.

TLDR: At this point, don't rely on leading generative AI for accurate book summaries.

I'll put my thinking cap back on.

Just the fairly obvious application where I write a press release / web page / letter / brochure content and then ask an AI to make it more readable.

Probably, also because it is limited to the items I have included, there might be a reduction in deceit.
