OpenAI says ChatGPT sSearch is now available to paid users. ChatGPT Plus and Team users, as well as SearchGPT waitlist users get access now.

Now, chat can get you to a better answer: Ask a question in a more natural, conversational way, and ChatGPT can choose to respond with information from the web. Go deeper with follow-up questions, and ChatGPT will consider the full context of your chat to get a better answer for you.

I do hope that they use/build their own index sooner than later.

Why? It is actually hard to figure out that Bing is the results provider. They are clearly deeply manipulating what Bing is giving them.

I guess the *hope* is they would use something more pure, something not dependent on what Bing is doing. Who knows what Bing's crawling/indexing priorities are. Based on the few Bing search results pages I've seen (2 organic listings and 8+ ads) I'm not sure I'd be real confident in the depth of their crawl.

You're right though, it does seem like ChatGPT is displaying different results than Bing in the limited comparisons I've looked at. They also seem to change significantly on repeated same word searches.

ChatGPT Search also seems to be struggling when you request more/different search results, gets stuck in a repeat loop. have to turn off search and ask ChatGPT why search is repeating itself despite being asked not to.

That is too bad, that one needs to click on the sources button, to see the actual "serp". On desktop, the source panel should be opened by default, this would be fair.
