Good to hear that SearchGPT has now launched.

I started using Perplexity in early Spring 2024 - for the first three months (after initial experimentation) I used it maybe once a month.

Since late June / early July I've found myself using it once or twice a week. most weeks.

Instinctively, the majority of the time, I still tend to reach for Bing at work and Google at home... but I can't guarantee I'll be using either very much by the end of 2024.

Hah - thanks, @brett_tabke... I didn't think the topic merited its own thread. (But why not?)

The biggest thing that bothers me about Perplexity at the moment is that my mobile is an iPhone 8 (long story) and... the website looks awful on the version of Safari Mobile running on my device.

I suppose, to be fair, that's a SafarIE problem, rather than anything else.

(I fully get that supporting legacy versions of Safari Mobile is a PITA - that's most of the reason why I even have this device in the first place...)

Has anyone else here used Perplexity? How are you finding it, relative to Google, Bing, SearchGPT etc.?

So far, out of all that's out there that I've tried, Perplexity and GROK seem to be the least ideological slanted.

Google is atrocious and Bing is meh.

Things might change in the future but for now Perplexity and GROK are the only two I'll be using.
Perplexity is very detail oriented and GROK does great custom graphics/images.

As an aside, someone a while back told me that they were trying their hand at coding using these AI engines and I thought, sure, I'll give it go and see what turns up -- none of these are ready for prime time when it comes to coding -- rudimentary is about the best I can describe it. Good for fiddling around with but absolutely not anything production worthy.
