A Riddle:

I built a site last week and put it on a shiny new domain I had just registered and submitted it only to DMOZ. Beginning three days after I put it up it started getting visited by GoogleBot and is now indexed and ranking in G.

It has no incoming links. The domain was not previously registered as far as I can tell. I do not use the G toolbar. I am not running AdSense on the site. The only two visitors in my log are myself and GoogleBot, and I have other sites on the same server in the same status that did not get crawled.

How did my site get indexed?

Must be a nice site. Funny, some people complain it takes them forever to get added to DMOZ. Keep up the good work.

A new site can be discovered from DNS zone files -- some countries don't share those, but if your site is .COM/.ORG/.NET then there is it certain that Google know it was created soon.

quick ques...does the sandbox timer start when google finds the new domain through DNS or when it finds the first backlink?
