I've searched for this topic a long time, and I never found anything related to it. No one had EVER posted this on any message board. Finally, I found out myself.

For all of you geeks out there, first go on and download yourself a copy of ResHack (or stat it up if you already have it).

MAKE SURE GOOGLE DESKTOP IS *CLOSED*!

Once ResHack is up & running, open up the "GoogleDesktopIndex.exe" program in the "{homedrive}\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search".

Now from here, you can do one of two things:
1) Expand "String Table", and each one of the things underneath it relate to the way Google Desktop inserts itself into Google's webpages, searches, etc. You can edit them to ANYTHING you want.

2) Expand the "23" folder - each one of the things underneath contain the actual HTML code of the Desktop web pages. You can configure these how you want, or make a new one with your own code.

Remember, in each of these instances, Google uses its own variables such as [URL] and "[$~PRIVACY~$]" to define the things you're searching for. I'm sure you can edit another resource to change these variables or even create new ones.

I'm sure anyone with enough time & knowledge can get such an intimate understanding of it that they could change the port to 80 and create their own custom web server from Google Desktop.

Happy Hacking! :)
