If the toolbar is not displayed, is it still tracking?

It shouldn't be. But in any case, if you switch off the "Advanced features" button, the toolbar shouldn't send any information anyway.

How can I turn off the advance features? I've looked but come up empty handed.

Click on the "Google" logo, select "Options", and untick PageRank and PageInformation buttons. I think they're the only two options that connect to Google.

You can also uninstall it, and reinstall it checking the "basic" option to make double sure.
