I hear the Toolbar PR is outdated and useless

Is the Google Toolbar PR bar outdated and useless information? With the SP2 EI popup blocker I guess I can simply remove the Google toolbar.

Toolbar PR has not been updated across the board for a few months – though some report minor changes.

Lots of theories as to why such as, checksum hack became too public ;), quarterly updates, big algo change on the way, abandoned altogether.
