I have noticed that the new ad codes for the major web ad companies are now getting through the blocker. It was nice not seeing any pop-ups. Now I am getting them on a lot of sites.

I am afraid that this battle between ads and surfing are going to kill js. Already the pop up blocker does effect javascript functionality. As Google and other blocking companies tighten the work arounds it will start to cut js functionality.

I think pop up blockers are a good thing compared to all those visitors completely turning off JS in their browser because of pop ups. I read it was as much as 7 % a couple of years back. I hope pop up blockers can catch up with this nuisance and easily update their products on installed base.

Google are friendly with Opera aren't they?

Opera seems to block popups ok - perhaps Google should ask how they do it.

Uhmm...pop ups are not that bad (ok I also block them)....

It is always nicer to get a pop up instead of a advertisement that fills up the complete page for 10 seconds before it shrinks back in its box.

Yup. The sneak-through rate has increased these days :(
