We've been testing out a few theories with the whole checksum thing and came up with the following from all 10 DCs.

64222138902 (PR=10) Google
63469421139 (PR=8) Site A
63575289613 (PR=6) Site B

I understood that PR was closely aligned to checksum values.

Site A appears to have a LOWER checksum value than site B.
Site A however is PR8 while Site B is PR6.

Can anyone explain the discrepancy please or is there something obvious I'm missing?

TIA

the only thing that factors into the checksum is the domain name itself

its calculated by doing a bunch of math on "info:http://www.domain.com/" ..at least thats how the toolbar does it..it could be in any format you want, you just won't get the same results as the toolbar 8u)

the checksum cannot possibly be accosiated with PR, since it is used to RETRIVE PR. If pr in some form was available to the toolbar where the checksum is calculated, then it wouldn't be needed to retrieve the PR in th efirst place.

OK, thanks.

Is there any possible use in being able to determine the checksum value of several URLs or is it useless?

I'm thinking along the lines of being able to use it in the same way as -link used to work or something remotely similar?

How can the checksum value be used to assist SEOs? Any ideas?

Thanks again

If you can calculate the checksum, you can make automated requests to extract PR from the google.com server.

Killroy,
Thats how we got the above PR values by auto-retrieving PR values from each of the datacenters.

Any other ideas?

I know, how checksum can be calculated.
