How to get the Google toolbar down underneath the address bar?...

Occasionally, when the Google toolbar installs, it reconfigures my Internet Explorer toolbars, and wastes an hour or so of my time, because I don't configure these bars every day and there's zero useful MS documentation on how to do it.

I'm getting better at it, though, thanks to the practice Google has prompted me to endure... but this time I'm stumped. I can't get the Google Toolbar down where it belongs.... I have IE 5.5, with new Toolbar version 2.0.95 deleon/en....

Standard configuration, from the top down (from what I'm used to, and from the picture Google shows on [toolbar.google.com...] )
is...
- IE pull-down menus
- standard buttons
- address bar
- links
- Google Toolbar

This time, though, no matter what I do, the configuration is...
- IE pull-down menus
- Google Toolbar
- standard buttons
- address bar
- links

I love my Google Toolbar, but it has strained my patience several times. This is one of them.

Any idea how to fix this? Please don't just say "drag the toolbar," because it's not really that simple.

For me, dragging works OK. Can you drag the address bar above the Google Toolbar, or is that also not working for you? What is the OS of your PC?

If you used IE 6.0, you can lock the toolbars in place, so once everything is ordered the way you want, it stays there.

Also you need to block automatic Google toolbar updates so you don't get any surprises. See this thread [webmasterworld.com] for more info - in a nutshell: point toolbar.google.com to 127.0.0.1 in HOSTS. or if you have a firewall, just block /version for toolbar.google.com

I think what I really need is instruction in how to drag the toolbars.

I just got the Google toolbar down to the bottom... don't ask me how I did it... and then closed all the other open browser windows, and then the "fixed" browser window... and voila! When I reopened IE, the Google Toolbar is down at the bottom.

Order is now:
- IE pull-down menus
- standard buttons
- links
- address bar
- Google Toolbar

I'd like to get the address bar above the links, but I'm almost afraid to touch it. What generally happens when I drag one of the bars up or down (where's the best place to grip a bar that's full?) is that the bar doesn't move up above the bar above or below... it merges with it, and I have to pull right or left to reveal one bar or the other. It sure eats up time. What's the trick?

Don't know the inner workings (of whatever HOSTS is part of) enough to know what you mean by this, how to do it, or what the effects would be. This is Windows 9x.
