I use Google Books a lot, but its mostly research in the 17th and 18th century.

Today I found a modern reference (published 1991) and it had the normal preview view - but it also had an offer to buy the eBook! This was not a 3rd party advert, this was in the normal place you'd have the option to download out-of-copyright works.

Is this new?

(If this is the wrong forum, feel free to move it! Thanks)

Is this what you mean? [googleblog.blogspot.com...]

If so, it's been around for a while.

Interesting - I suppose that is it.

Typically my research brings me to very pre-copyright works (15th to 19th century) - guess I've just never run across is before.

Thanks
