Peer-to-Peer connections are coming to Google Hangouts, which Google says will will more efficiently route your call direct to the person you're connecting to, instead of via Google's servers.

“To improve call quality and speed, Hangouts will route audio and video over a peer-to-peer connection when possible,” a Google spokesperson told VentureBeat.
