Buyers of Google Glass have been warned they cannot sell their pricey new techno-spectacles on eBay or anywhere else.

In terms of sale posted on its website, the advertising giant said a Google Glass was for life, unless you wanted to give it away for nothing. Google stated: "You may not commercially resell any device, but you may give the device as a gift. Recipients of gifts may need to open and maintain a Google Wallet account in order to receive support from Google. These terms will also apply to any gift recipient."

Then, tucked away in the footnotes, the Chocolate Factory added: "Unless otherwise authorized by Google, you may only purchase one device, and you may not resell, loan, transfer, or give your device to any other person.

As long as they have good return policy so if you simply don't like them or, do to eye issues cannot use them at all, you can at least return them in a timely manner.

Otherwise, not surprising as when I got my Nexus it was already pre-installed for IncrediBILL the minute I turned the thing on as it was issued directly to me.

Perhaps this is just a condition for early units being sold as they test the waters and don't obviously want people buying them and just dumping them and create a second hand market which would devalue the product, or in the case people flat don't like it give the marketplace clear numbers on how many customers are bailing on it immediately.

Clever trick but this is the kind of stunts that get the attention of politicians like MS not allowing other OS's to be easily installed on computers, etc. so a bad move if you're trying to fly under the government radar.

In light of recent events, it's also a clear way to keep this type of technology out of the hands of red-flagged countries, groups and individuals as 3rd parties can't buy them the technology without exposing their own accounts to keep it active.

Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps the government has something to do with this clause just like encryption software can't be sold to wack-a-doodle countries, etc.

Huge Google faux pas as they have fought tooth and nail to keep 'Google' from being used as a verb but the demo on their Google Glass website does exactly that!

These are the terms of service for the Explorer, or developers edition. Any reason the think these going to be the terms of service for consumers' editions?

Easier said that done as it's connected to Google Wallet so if you don't care about losing your personal account tied to your phone # and CC #, then go for it.
