Friends advice changed ranking from 3 to 1

I had a PR of 3, and thought i would use my friends advice (had a PR of 6/7) for small tricks he used and now the PR is 1.
The problem is i thought i would go up not down and of course this does not look to good for a company website.
I added the following:
1x1 pixel with text in ALT TAG
Placing text in the NO SCRIPT Tag
Using the H1 tag
Having more than the recommended Description and Keywords
But i dont know which, if not all carries the biggest penalty. Typing my URL into a metatag analyzer gives more weighted keywords but gives a worse ranking. ARRGGHHH!

get rid of 1x1 pixel alt tags they dont work,
also get rid of noscript tage keep H1 tags they def carry some merit, your friends website probley is backed up with other inbound links rather than these little tricks, these did work at some point but have recently become banning excuses so remove them b4 next crawl!
what is ur friends URL? il lcheck it out and see what he does to get hi page rank!

those things may not be any good or indeed bad, BUT i doubt that they have caused you to drop from pr3 to pr1 - why do you think this is the case?

the toolbar is pretty irrelevant at showing pr.

What is the best way to find page ranking?
This whole mess started when i went to a met tag analyser, typed in my URL and realised that i had too many words in desc, keywords and no linking words or specific keywords in the main text.
