I had a couple of videos to upload so I created a youtube account and at the top of the page there is a 'monetize your videos and grow you audience, become a youtube partner today' popup button. I was under the impression that not everyone was accepted to the partner program and that it took some history because you could join.
If I click on this particular 'accept' button will I be a partner instantly or is it an application and I will be reviewed? I don't really plan on posting a lot of videos so if it's an application I'm not likely to sign up but if it's instant or guaranteed... why not.
I did click on it and the result is a long 'enable your account for monetization' agreement that I must accept. I haven't done so yet.
Also, Google seems to think I've been a 'member' of youtube for years even though I've only had a Google account for years, not a youtube account. The date and standing information suggests I'm old as dirt on youtube? Certainly my account appears to be old compared to most I see on there even though I just signed up for youtube today. I don't get it.
