Try this quick and simple idea:
1) Set your google toolbar in "options" to display 100 results - this is the maximum
2) type in your keywords or keyword phrase
3) Use the "Find" command for the page, looking for something unique to your site, such as the site's name: widgets.com
4) Voila! Your in the top 100 for your keyword phrase, at least, hopefully. If not, repeat on the next page of results, or the next page, or the next page, etc. Don't despair if your top in the top 100, see Note below!
Note:I search two ways: without quotes first - this is what most users do, I believe, and then with quotes. I note my positions for each keyword phrase, change my optimization accordingly for each phrase/page, and see what happens the following update. You'll be happy you did!
Hope that helps, WFN :)
I also read my log files with EditPlus, which has a handy feature allowing you to quickly right click on a URL (such as a SE referring URL) and open it in a browser. This is great for spoting and checking your pages' positins for searches that you havn't thought about.
