When you type what looks, to Google, like a FQDN or a URL starting with HTTP:// or, possibly, [,...] it'll automatically take you to the URL... This is new with the latest version of the toolbar, I believe, and I *THINK* it's what's giving the wierd referrals. :)

In the toolbar, you would normally type in the keywords for your Google search. If you type the actual URL in the toolbar, instead of the keywords, Google will take you directly to that URL, rather than doing a search for the URL.
