Free Google website search tool

im considering implementing the free google search tool on our site... we have about 1700 pages indexed, so almost all of our content seems to be indexed by G.

however, we have secure areas on our site: [......] for our members...

does the search tool work behind [..?...]

also, has anyone had any negative issues with this search tool recently?

Google carries no memberships, so any content which is restricted access for members only will not be indexed.

Google can only index what is public and what it knows about (through link structures).
