I have had the Google Toolbar installed for awhile, and I just noticed that with the last update of the software that it hijacks 404 traffic. I have my own htaccess to handle my 404 pages and errors, I monetize this to bring more revenue in for ME, afterall it is my site and I pay the bills.. if someone hits my site and lands on a 404 page they are still my visitors and I should be allowed to send them where I want without Google redirecting my visitors to a page they control.

This is a feature of the Toolbar that can be turned off, but by default it is on. It disregards a sites htaccess and shows you a page from Google... You can disable this feature by clicking on the toolbar options and on the SEARCH TAB in the "Web-browsing Tools" UNCHECK the box next to: "PROVIDE SUGGESTIONS ON NAVIGATION ERRORS"..

Also does anyone else see a problem with Google disregarding a sites htaccess and redirecting the error traffic to a page of theirs..?

IMHO.. I think that Google should respect a sites htaccess with or without the Toolbar installed.
