Toolbar update changed settings on my pc?

Maybe it's just me, but I just had google toolbar update (as per other threads) without asking me, then I find to my complete annoyance that if I type www.fkjhdfkjhdfkjhdfh.co.uk into my address bar I get redirected to :

[g***le.com...]

I do not want this service from G, I want the old M$ version back as this is sometimes how I ascertain what domains are out there and free...

Plus, it pisses me off when google assumes it knows what I want without asking...

So :

1. Anyone know of a PR service that means I can see any page without having to have the google toolbar?

2. Any one know how to remove this? Is it registry settings I need to change to remove?

I just noticed the same thing, a nice big update button, I think it is a reminder of the dangers of letting unknown software update itself automatically on an Internet PC.

Evertime I use a new app I ask myself do I really know what it is doing to my PC, and the answer is of course NOPE.

My toolbar just updated. I kept looking at it trying to figure out why it looked so different. It really is a nice tool but I am thinking of dropping it again.

Yes - I didn't want this update at all - so I've uninstalled the toolbar.

Actually now that some of our systems are using Internet Explorer 7, I'm not sure that you really need a toolbar like the google one anyway.

IE7 has the search box that you can set to google if you want so 'm just going to use that from now on.
