When I would reboot (did it at 10 times trying to solve it) I would get "TRW not responding" messages along with the "Click to end Program now." I removed the Desktop from the start menu, closed, with no improvement. I finally said screw it; simply not worth my time and to be honest haven't missed them at all. PR is not accurate these days, and does not mean that much to justify having the toolbar. I am not 100% sure if it was the toolbar or the desktop, but I removed them both, especially since Google just autoupdated it (I am not a big fan of autoupdates.)
I am curious if anyone else has noticed any problems? My computer now works like it used to.
As for the toolbar, I cannot imagine for a second that it is interfering with major operations. Why would it? Why would none of the millions of users not have had similar experiences (maybe they have - but I've certainly never heard a whisper).
I'm no fan of auto-updates; but unless you can remind yourself to check for updates frequently (and I mean frequently), you just have to live with them; security is such an issue for all windows users that any outdated software must be seen as a risk.
That may be the heart of your problems; desktop is probably configured to work with the latest versions of everything; do you get your monthly windows updates?
If I was Google I would untangle the products and give people the chance to install each component of the toolbar separately, some will need the popup blocker alone, others might prefer the PR indicator and nothing else.. all or nothing might lead to more nothing than all.
Feels naked without the toolbar, but I like naked, never thought I would!
I tried to configure it so that exe doesn't start automatically, but in vein. I got suspicous and installed an internet traffic monitor and discovered that whereever I browse there is also a connection to google established and active.
