Sorry if this has been raised before (in which case please point me to the thread) but I've searched and searched and cannont find the answer.

At home I work on an ADSL line behind a "smoothwall" (GPL 1.0) firewall.

PR tool on googlebar here doesn't work.

I could really use it for some research over the weekend. Can anyone point me to a fix/patch/upload that will make the google toolbar PR tool work behind my smoothwall firewall?

Many thanks,

TJ

Few questions to better understand your situation

1. Do you use at home the same PC as at work?
2. Are the Advanced Features enabled?
3. Your toolbar has a recent version (1.1.70-deleon/en for me here)
4. Is the category working OK? If you go to the homepage of a site in Google Directory (like www.webmasterworld.com), this icon next to PageRank should change from gray to green
5. Did you ever try to temporarily switch off the firewall?
6. Did this function ever worked at home and if so, when did it stop?

Don't worry - I need a Linux Guru for this one - it's a known problem, just not easy to find the fix!

Anyone know any Linux Guru's here btw?

For interest, Smoothwall is a dedicated proprietory firewall running on a dedicated PC which my desktop PC is behind. I am not running the google toolbar under Linux.....

This is a known problem, I'm sure there is someone on here who can tell me which patch I need to accurately pass the required ports through to the PR tool.

@ CT2000

Thanks, that's interesting.... and I presume you didn't patch it yourself.

Maybe this is an IPchains/IPtables issue.....

Maybe time to upgrade to Mallard then..... I just have an aversion to "beta" software.

Is it stable? Run into any problems with it?

Thanks for the help,
