Hello all!

I am fairly new in webmasterworld and first of all I would like to congratulate you all for this excelent website. I have been reading your posts for about 3 months now and I have learnt a lot from you. Thank you very much for that!

I am also a newbie in SEO and I would like some help in this issue. The site that I am looking after has a PR6 and its doing really bad in Google. How is it possible that a PR6 site appears on page 5 or 6 and the sites that are better located or even on the first page have PR3, PR4?

Thanks for your reply.

Welcome to Webmaster World Carly... sorry for the delay, but most of us look in on the 'Google News' section rather than the 'Google Toolbar' section - thus the delay.

If you have a PR6 (and still have it this afternoon after the 'dance') then you obviously have some nice links headed your way. In my opinion, you're already half-way there to getting to the top for your keywords in Google.

If you have been looking here for 3 months, then I'm sure you picked up a lot of the basics. Keywords in the title (I recommend keeping them less than 3 to 5 words in most cases - don't try to go after too many here - use secondary keywords for subpages), large headlines with the keywords at the top, good use of your keywords in the content, and update your site often (my PR6s generally get visited by freshbot every day - yours will as well if you have regular updates).

There's many other things you have probably already picked up on in this great forum. As I said, the PR6 is the 'tough' part that you already have in place - the rest is just a little hard work and lots of patience....

Hi Steve,

Thanks a lot for your reply. It's good news for me. I was dissapointed that after all changes that I did to my site I wasn't getting any positive results. Now I am a lot happier and will continue working on it following your suggestions.

I noticed something strange yesterday in Google since usually I am on page 5 and yesterday I was at the bottom of page 6. Today though I am on page 4 and it's the first time I've ever been there. :-)

Thanks again for your help.
