Google Toolbar is Crashing My Browser

Microsoft fingers Google Toolbar as Culprit

I've been getting a lot of Browser Crashes lately. With this last crash, I did what I haven't done before and clicked on the button to send Microsoft an error report. After doing so, Microsoft's diagnosis (which can be found by clicking on the link presented) was that the Google Toolbar was the only possible cause of all these crashes.

I run Windows XP and IE6 and keep them both updated regularly. I have toolbar version 1.1.66-big/en.

Any advice/comments/feedback?

Google Toolbar just crashed my IE also ( I say google because I was typing in the bar when it crashed ;) . XP & IE 6.0

Interesting I get a LOT of crashes as well though I just always attirbuted it to bad surfing habits ... multiple windows open, google toolbar, alexa toolbar etc ...

Hmm. Can't hurt to try uninstalling it and then installing the latest version?

1.1.69 is the current version. Uninstalling now and re-installing for giggles. /me watches new brotherly love watch over him.

Uninstalled, closed all browsers went to install advanced. Upon installation screen the browser crashed. (the greenbar on the install page went all the way except the last notch and locked up)

Forced the browser to close and there it was 1.1.70

Tried to do the install 2 times without crashing my browser but no luck. However now the error where PR and Directory were transfered from one site to another is fixed.

I run the same and never had a crash. Well, I do crash after days and days but nothing abbienormal.

But uninstalling and reinstalling will prove a pleasant diversion so what the heck?

I had tried to install the beta version 7 of the Alexa toolbar and it crashed my IR 6 to the point that I had to uninstall from control panel.

For some reason IE crashes allot for me as well. As a sidenote, I like to keep the IE button on the left. If you crash and get the error message, click your IE shortcut and open a new window before you click on the error message and the new IE button will stay on the left, as the old (crashed) ie window closes.

Well, I now have the latest version of the toolbar and installation went smoothly. Hopefully, this solves the problem...if I get a crash again, I'll report back.

Sure enough, it did it again (while reading through Webmaster World). What now Googleguy?

Check your IE you may want to download the "newer" version from service pack 1 and then download the Google Toolbar. If you haven't done that already which I suspect you have since Service Pack 1 came out in September last year.

I've been dealing with the same - am afraid to use the Google Toolbar at the moment. It seems to be fairly stable for a few hours after a restart though.

I have done two uninstall/reinstalls and still getting hit.
