During the last few hours I have been uploading a number of pages that immediately received a PR, obviously a guessed one. And the last two got a white bar. They are on a fairly deep level in a domain with PR5 for the index page.

I found this rather interesting as I had uploaded another page to the very same level a couple of hours ago and it got a PR1. So I visited that page and lo: it was white bar too now.

IMO this incident supports the opinion that some members have expressed: That white bar is not necessarily a 0 but just <1. It seems that by uploading these last pages I wore my site's ability of distributing PR so thin, that this lowest level sank beneath 1.

Did you see google bot come into your logs while you were doing this? Does google actually know that those pages are there or is the PageRank on the toolbar only a guess? Even unindexed pages will have a guessed PR, usually below the domains PR. I would agree that it does support the theory that PR <1 could actually be a decimal.

No, I did not see any bot. Pages higher in the hierarchy have been found by freshbot and the highest levels have been indexed and have "real" PR.
