How to remove "Enable Google Desktop Search"

I predominantly use Firefox for all of my surfing, however, it is necessary to use the dreaded vulnerability laden IE6.0 to use certain websites.

When I opened up my IE6.0 browser today, I found a new button with a rainbow swirl that says New! and onMouseover says "Enable Google Desktop Search". To prevent clicking the button accidentally, how do I remove it, as it is not listed in the Google Toolbar menu? I don't care about my surfing habits being picked up my the Toolbar, but I absolutely do not want Google crawling my local files.

yeah I saw this too.... might remove the toolbar to be honest - don't remember seeing a file download procedure popping up to alert me to what was going on.

I don't think the swirly is going to search your files and let them be seen on the web though..

Hey,
I had the same problem with the random 'New' button - all you have to do is click on it, and you're given an option of enabling it or removing the button. Took me ages to figure out how to do it!
