I can also share that I found that if you submit a data feed with your own optimized data, rankings will be much better than crawled data.

Again like I mentioned before, always use the data feed. All else equal it seems to rank higher because you have the ability to do #1 below among others.
1. For the title of your site in setting up the data feed make sure to use your most appropriate keywords for your products as a whole, i.e...
"Bob's Purple Widgets."
If you don't use the data feed froogle will pick your domain as the site title.
2. For the name of each product you have ample leeway in naming the products. So be sure to cover all pluralisms and other word forms in the name, i.e....
"purple widget - purplish widgets" (or whatever) as another example, people could all use these same terms wanting the same thing...apple brownie, apple fritter brownies, brownie with apples, etc.
3. You can give a fairly lengthy product description (I don't remember the exact length). Make sure to accurately describe it with all the right keywords so your customers will find you. Wait, forget that, I'll go ahead and say the words....keyword stuffing seems to work.
A couple general thoughts. All you have to work with is text as tags and other goodies won't be there; you give them a delimited text file. So think keywords in site name, product name, and product description. Also, it appears that the froogle algo has very few variables...froogle is still a baby.
Hope that helps, not that anyone will bet much traffic anyway.

And it appears too easy to rank well in. Again I think it is an overly simplistic algo.

Right now, it is way to easy to manipulate where you fall. With just a little testing, I was able to figure out exactly how they ranked a site.
I know it is still early and I'm sure that will change and other factors will be included once more site start submitting feeds.
I know they say you don't have to submit a feed, but those who do have a real advantage over those who don't.
#4 Always use the categories option in the data feed even though it is optional. Groups your products by similar type as when surfer clicks on "see all whatever from Bob's Purple Widgets" (or whatever it says), the products returned are those from the same category as the product that they clicked the "see all" link. Categories should contain groups of similar products so if they don't like one they might want another similar one. Also helps to show surfer that you have a broad offering in that area.
mrguy...have anything to add? Might as well make this a complete "Ranking Well in Froogle" guide.
