There has been a whole string of WebmasterWorld posts lately about "Best Tips" and the "laws of" for topics such as adsense, eCommerce and affiliate marketing.

I'd love to hear one tip from everyone here about how they have been again to get more out of froogle.

1. Submit often - Froogle seems to give preference to the freshest feeds. We try to update our inventory as often as possible, at least once a week.

2. Use nice looking url strings - I can't be sure google gives ranking preference to them (can someone else) but they do increase clickthrough rates. If you are #4-7 with [Blue.Example.com...] you will get more clicks than someone above you with http://www.example.com/app/categories/B/productsdetails.php?id=12ndh3637&referer=froogle

Who's got a great tip?

Been ages since I played the Froogle SEO game, but here is some stuff I found useful when Google first stated displaing Froogle results. Not sure if this information is still current ,but I suspect that it is.
From this thread [webmasterworld.com]

# The category that Froogle places your product into plays a significant role. I think that Froogle uses a combination of the product name, description and the category from your site structure to determine which category your product will be placed in. I think it is safe to assume that the technology Google acquired with Applied Semantics plays a role in how this is done.

# Submit a data feed. By default, products sent to Froogle via feed sit above products that are found through the regular crawl.

# Froogle shows results a couple of different ways. The first are the 3 results that sit above the regular SERPS marked as "Product search." The first result is almost always the product that has the lowest price within the category that Froogle determines best matches the query. Get the red pen out and mark it down.

# The regular Froogle results are ranked much the same way, except price is not a determining factor in the default search. Vanilla SEO rules the day here I believe. Play around with product names, and descriptions to find what works best for you. Because you can tweak and submit, you should be able to see a pattern emerge in the categories you are playing with in short order

The way google works ,is it sees how many times the relevant keywords( as typed by searcher) appear on the site/page. It also compares linking to other sites/pages for the same keywords.
Overall indexing is then done and , the results are displayed.

pmac sums it up nicely with:
