PR affecting Froogle listings?

Are Froogle's rankings interlinked with other factors?

I have done a little analysis of some of the top Froogle listings for widgets and found many of the top listings have the highest PRed homepages.

Has anybody else looked into how PR affects listings?

I don't think PR has any effect on Froogle rankings.

I think site owners that are sending in optimized feeds to Froogle are usually the same ones who are optimizing their web sites for Google - therefore obtaining high PR.

PR does play a part in placement. Read article below.

Quoting Quoting Craig Nevill-Manning (Google senior staff research scientist)

PageRank is an important input to the ranking function. Sites with high PageRank are more likely to have their products appear in the top results.

I have seen several instances of brand new pages with no pagerank score very well in Froogle for fairly competitive terms.

I hear what you are saying Pmac about fresh pages with no PR seen that too.

What I was looking for was a possible ranking between the Froogle listing and the PR for the root URL for the page.

Say the listing was for:

[widgetsrus.com...]

The domain PR for [widgetsrus.com...] tends to be higher on top listings.

Just a theory and observation for some discussion.

Yup, could be a site rank score in play. Anybody submit a feed on a brand new site with no inbounds and have it score in Froogle?

In my opinion, PR does play a factor. I ran mutiple sites offering the same product. One was created specifically for Froogle - discounted prices to reflect a zero acquistion cost. This "froogle" site was unknown to the search engine world - PR 0, no inbounds at all.

I used the same exact names, descriptions and even sometimes prices. My "established" website's product page was a PR 4. It ALWAYS placed better than the PR 0 site. I played with the descriptions specifically to to test if PR had an effect.
