Froogle Listings

Hi,

I'm sure your all aware of the new product based SE fron google (www.froogle.com).

Has anyone any idea how you can obtain a listing here? In google.com we are number 1 for <snip> - however we do not show up in Froogle, this suggests that they are not using google listings.

Any comments?

It involves setting up a feed, full details on the Froogle merchant info pages:

You can get into Froogle without the feed. They are using data from the "normal" crawling activity in the Froogle listings. The feed will just ensure your inclusion.

I had a few of my pages show up in froogle. I didn't do anything to get them there beyond create a site that had one very important thing going for it:

Each product had an HTML page with both a product description and a price in US Dollars

Sounds too simple, eh? You'd be suprised at how many sites unintentionaly hide prices. (prices in PDF files, prices only on a seperate page mixed with others, prices only if you call them... etc etc)

Froogle won't list you if it can't tell what product is for sale, and what the sale price is.

I couldn't find a UK version and I don't want to put a price up for my products in USD cus of exchange rates, besides, my products only work on 240v electrics...

When will Froogle come out of Beta?
Currency and country specific Froogle's?
Will Froogle get its own tab?

I got my Froogle account in January but never did anything with it.

I thought the whole Froggle thing was a flop, and
that it will slowly fade away, and never make it
to the main page.

Maybe im wrong, but 8 months in beta without a peep, does not look good.

Yahoo is working on a Product Search just like Froogle, so one of them is bound to go live, and afterwards, the other one will.

Froogle still isn't very good at sorting products into categories. Also, I don't know how good it is at finding products without a feed. But other than that, I don't see why it couldn't go live now.

The other weakness with Froogle and froogle-like search engines is the shipping cost. Anybody can low ball a price of a product but them hit the customer with a large shipping charge.

Therefore making Froogle useless as a comparison shopping tool.

I doubt they've given up on Froogle, it's just not top priority.

Froogle is good when it has the correct price for the product but often it seems to grab whatever USD price is close by on the page - so sometimes the price is for a completely different item or a small accessory rather than the actual item. But overall its pretty good, I like the way it picks up a picture from my site - it looks better than some paid classified ads I put up. I don't think it gets many views though - I'm pretty sure my weblogs show this crawler when someone views the froogle ad 64.68.87.59 [crawler8.googlebot.com] Still if it went to the main google page that would be great.

Hence the reason for the feed.

Froogle is being nurtured for the right moment, possibly to coincide with the inevitable IPO (as discussed in numerous other threads about Froogle.)

froogle picked up my site automatically, but so far i've seen no referrals from it.

btw, it appears down right now.
