Google has switched File Transfer Protocol (FTP) back on in Chrome 81 in response to the COVID-19 situation. The change was made "via server-side configuration."

This appears to be a short term change as FTP is to be eventually disabled in the future.

Query: How often do you use FTP?

Data transfer over plain unencrypted FTP is still widely used in academic settings to transfer large datasets. I recently had a scientific project where using FTP as a data transfer method between international locations was mandatory. While it has been deprecated in personal and business settings due to security concerns, it still thrives in the world which should define our future :o
