Chrome 56 is now here, and Google say it offers 28% faster reloading, and 60% less validation requests. Of course, this version of Chrome includes the "not secure" warning for HTTP password and credit card forms. [webmasterworld.com]

Ooh. More security!

Google releases all-HTML5 Chrome 56 with extra encryption cues

Top of the list is that this is the first stable version of Chrome to be 100 per cent HTML5 by default for all users, meaning if there's an option not to use nasty plugins, it will take it. Chrome already blocks Flash content, but this gives the full enchilada to HTML5, a symbolic milestone in the interwebs history.

It seems faster indeed. and I notice that Adsense 's rich media ads are loading much faster.

There was a previous rendering bug in the last build of Desktop Chrome that misaligned some form fields of mine. My code was correct & all other browsers displayed it correctly.

I played with the CSS a couple days trying to get to display right for Chrome but couldn't without adding a couple workarounds & absolute positioning. Finally, I decided to wait and see what the next update would do... voila! Now displaying the way it should :)

Looks like Mobile Chrome for Android is still on 55 with no update yet.

Faster reloading is cool, except I'm sure that means Chrome's caching will now be extra sticky. Time to buy more RAM.

After a couple days use... this is the fastest browser I've ever used!

I've always been with Firefox, but now, I am really tempted to use Chrome for my everyday surfing (and not only testing), If I understood Firefox will release a new rendering engine this year, so it might be interesting to compare.

Dimitri - I've always used Firefox as well. I have a couple add-ons I constantly use, like the WebDevelopet toolbar. I know other browsers have similar toolbars but I really like the one for Firefox.

However, Firefox has become slow and its cache management is awful.

Usually when I test drive a new browser, I return to Firefox after a few minutes. However it's been a couple days with Chrome and I'm digging it.

Imported my Firefox bookmarks, added a couple extensions (Webdeveloper toolbar) and I'm pretty happy - plus it has that Adsense publisher extension.

Imported my Firefox bookmarks

Side note, you should consider using Google Bookmarks. Then you can share your bookmarks across all of your browsers and devices without importing them. I love that nifty little feature :)

Time to buy more RAM.

One thing about Chrome is that it has become a beast on RAM usage. But, the cool thing that I recently discovered is the Chrome Task Manager, which works like the Windows Task Manager and show you how much RAM each tab, app and plugin uses.

To access it, just hit Shift-ESC or with a mouse, the three dots in the upper right -> More Tools -> Task Manager

i too have found firefox to be getting really sluggish after the last several updates - it eats the RAM

i am going to give chrome a fly as my main browser for a week and see how it goes

But, the cool thing that I recently discovered is the Chrome Task Manager

a great little feature!

Mobile Chrome for Android just updated to 56. No noticeable changes so far.
