My Mcafee didn't like that Google chrome was trying to force an updated on my Google Chrome.

Strange thing is..... I haven't run google chrome in months and actually have it set NOT to do auto updates.... wonder what they're trying to fix.

Hmm sound strange to me, I've been using chrome for a while now and I can tell that my Chrome never forced any updates!

As far as I know Chrome updates automatically unless you do some registry tweaks on Windows to prevent it. I'm not sure about other platforms. However, I think it has to be a running process in order to update. You're saying that Chrome was trying to start itself to update?

If you don't want auto-updates or the browser calling home all the time then I might suggest SRWare Iron, a Chromium fork.
