Looks like Google Chrome V12 is styling phone numbers with a user stylesheet which breaks page layouts where phone numbers were absolutely positioned in a div or span tag.

Great .. customers calling to complain that their layouts are broken. Thanks G

Can you get around it by globally replacing hyphens (x2010) with non-breaking hyphens (x2011) or maybe –? Or are they too ### sneaky for that?

What exactly are you seeing? I'm using Chrome 12 and I don't see a User Style Sheet applied, unless I have the Google Voice Extension enabled and even then, the only styles applied are:

color: #03B;
text-decoration: underline;
cursor: pointer;

Test case:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
div {
position: absolute;
top: 100px;
left: 100px;
}
</style>
<title>Phone Number Test</title>
</head>
<body>
<div>800-555-1212</div>
</body>
</html>
