Sometimes, my google chrome crashes. Of course, that can happen, but then, when I try to restart chrome it freezes and crashes again immediately. The only way to fix that is to restart my computer.
How can I solve this?

It's probably an extension. Chrome doesn't have a Safe Mode like Firefox. The suggestion is to try opening an incognito window: [googlesystem.blogspot.com...]

Generic answer (applicable probably to all browsers): Is it trying to reopen all tabs/windows that were open when it crashed? If one of those pages directly caused the crash, then it will happen every time you reopen the page. With me it's most likely if I opened a slew of search results in consecutive tabs, and my browser took offense at one of them before I'd even seen it.

in my experience chrome hogs a lot of unreleased memory.
