AMP for regular website?

Okay beginner question here.

Can I use AMP for any type of website or does it have to be news related? I run a non-profit website and was thinking about implementing AMP.

We do have a News page, would it be possible to implement AMP for just that section of the website?

Yes, you can use AMP for any site.
The benefit your visitors get is faster loading. Obviously, if your site is primarily image and video based, the benefits tail off.
