Google has launched AMP technology for emails.

"AMP for email allows senders to include AMP components inside rich engaging emails, making modern app functionality available within email. The AMP email format provides a subset of AMPHTML components for use in email messages, that allows recipients of AMP emails to interact dynamically with content directly in the message."

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this?

I’m traditionally very wary of AMP, but I feel that it has a reasonable niche spot within emails as something traditionally just a bit rubbish.

I need to do more digging around how this would actually play out in terms of support across the different clients.

^^ Agree with Justa that emails have been traditionally quite rubbish, heh - like 99% of the emails I receive aren't even responsive - it's 2019!
I am optimistic with AMP's emails, hopefully they will better them.

A richer ad vector equals a richer ad revenue stream.

Google desperation is highlighting cracks in their business model. Wonder what they will find to buy that might keep them going? They almost certainly won't develop it in house.

How does this play out?

Looks like making sure tracking cookies are included, even in personal emails.

Will wait and see.
