The {Keyword} etc. features of AdWords...

Why are they "undocumented"?

Any ideas? Can't find any mention of them on the AdWords site (either outside or logged in), so unless i've not looked hard enough can anybody think of a good reason as to why they are undocumented?

I guess the AdWords block of a Google results page would look a bit silly if everybody started using them; but then why make the facility available in the first place?

I understand that other PPC networks offer a similar feature - do they make it more widely known?

could dmorison be referring to the power posting features?

[keyword]
"keyword keyword"
"keyword" **0.28

If so, it's pretty well documented. If not then please elaborate.

Hi,

Sorry peeps, didn't make it clear.

I'm referring to the keyword replacement feature, whereby using {Keyword:Alternate} within your headline or copy text causes the actual search term used to appear at that point in your ad. "Alternate" appears if the resulting text would be too long to be used in AdWords.

Ok, now we've cleared that up; back to my original question:

Am I correct in thinking that these are undocumented as far as the AdWords website is concerned; and if so, why?

I think that at one point they were only available to premium adwords clients, and obviously if they were paying a premium for being high up (after all we all know that keyword in the title gets better CTR), then they would be upset if everyone knew about it.

I'd be pleased that you know, keep it to yourself, and take advantage of the facility.
